Configurable UUV Electric and Magnetic Field Sensor Network

Abstract

Configurable UUV Electric and Magnetic Field Sensor NetworkThe proposer will adapt the UUV technology so that full-scale performance tests can be performed in an ocean environment. Adaptions include integrating an electric field sensor onto the UUVs, installing a more powerful electric motor, fabricating deployable acoustic navigation components, and performing overall system automation to allow operation in a realistic naval environment. System components have been tested at full-scale in an ocean environment at the South Florida Ocean Measurement Facility (SFOMF). Under this proposal, the capability for UUV-acquired measurements of the electric and magnetic signature of a full-scale naval vessel will be provided for tests at SFOMF and other locations.
