BRC - Fundamental Investigations of the Electroplasticity Effect in Metals

Abstract

Abstract: Our program combines in situ electromechanical testing and quantum mechanical- based modeling to develop a fundamental theoretical framework directly coupling dislocation dynamics with applied electric fields. Our combined experimental and theoretical studies of the electroplasticity effect will provide a scientific foundation for the design and optimization of alloys with enhanced electroformability for targeted manufacturing applications.
