Predicting Non-Equilibrium Wall-Flow Phenomena at High Reynolds Number

Abstract

The U.S. Navy requires better prediction of high Reynolds number non-equilibrium turbulentwall-flows. This need is addressed by describing the flow modifications caused by non-equilibrium forcing effects in mathematical formulations that expose the underlying physics. The research focuses on spatially developing flows, and integrates ?rst-principles based modelformulations, machine learning based numerical simulations, and detailed measurements inunique high Reynolds number facilities.
