ONR Student Travel Grant for the 2017 International School on Programming Language Implementation (ISPLI)
Abstract
Our daily life is defined by our interaction with a myriad of computer systems. From watches to laptops, software is omnipresent. Computer programming languages are our interface to these machines, they allow us to craft complex sequences of operations at increasing high levels of abstraction. How are programming languages designed? How can those designs be implemented? This summer school will bring together leading researchers from academia and industry to discuss current research and future trends in programming language design and implementation. All instructors have had significant impact in this area and play an active role in substantial ongoing research and commercial efforts. The goal of this school is to prepare early graduate students and advanced undergraduate to research in the field. This goal will be attained by a combination of lectures on basic languages implementation techniques and short talks exploring the state of the art in programming language research and practice.
