Shiptime and Marine Technician Support for the RV Endeavor CY 2017

Abstract

The Research Vessel Endeavor is owned by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and has been operated and managed by the University of Rhode Island~s Graduate School of Oceanography since 1976 in support of our nation~s oceanographic science community. This proposal requests funds for two ONR sponsored cruises aboard the R/V Endeavor during CY 2017. ONR Seabed Characterization Experiment - New England Mud Patch--Principle Investigator: Kyle M. Becker ONR We propose to carry out the experiment in late March - early May 2017 when the water column should be well mixed. Level of support: 31 operating days. Science Equipment Test/ Calibration /Training--Principle Investigator: Dr. Melissa M. Omand URI/GSO--Test/calibration/training cruise: PI Amy Bower (WHOI) - Bottom-following RAFOS f"loat test calibration, PI Doug Ricketts(UM) - Triaxus test/training, PI Melissa Omand(URI/GSO) - Proof-of- concept data, test and ca"librate LiDAR system. Level of support: 1 operating day
