Conference Sponsorship Proposal: Tenth International Conference on Social Computing, Behavioral-Cultural Modeling, and Prediction (SBP)

Abstract

Social computing and behavioral modeling lie at the intersection of various disciplines such as sociology, behavioral science, psych""ology, anthropology, mathematics, economics, computer science, informationsystems, physics, health sciences, and operations researc""h. Research in social computing and behavioral modeling is designed to achieve a better understanding of social interactions, comple""x behaviors, contextual patterns, and associated outcomes of interest. The state-of-the-art in this field requires an interdisciplin""ary set of skills to address challenges arising from health, culture, and society. Further, the rapid growth of the Internet and the" sheer volume of data being generated on daily basis by millions of online users on disparate issues provide a significant opportunity for discovery through anintelligent mining and analysis of the big data. Such an intelligent analysis calls for a collaborative" effortbetween mathematicians, computer scientists, statisticians and social scientists on one hand, and withdomain specific exper""ts, such as health professionals, economists, and security experts. The SocialComputing, Behavioral-Cultural Modeling, and Predicti"on (SBP) conference is a platform for bringingtogether researchers from a wide variety of disciplines in this rapidly developing ar"ea of research to interact, discuss and disseminate on research issues that are central to its progress and to encourage new collabo"rations that are essential to its steady development and healthy evolution.
