JTO MRI: Power Scalable Electrically Driven Monolithic IR Surface Emitting Semiconductor Lasers

Abstract

JTO MRI: Power Scalable Electrically Driven Monolithic IR Surface Emitting Semiconductor LasersProject Summary/Abstract:The objective of this project is to investigate and develop electrically driven monolithic single mode high power surface-emitting lasers at" midwave infrared wavelengths. With the incorporation of nanostructured photonic cavities, single mode large area high power surface" emitting lasers can be achieved with excellent beam quality and thermal properties. Scalablehigher power output can be realized in" coherent arrays. Multi-wavelength arrays, beam shape engineering and steering can also be realized with the dispersion engineering" of nanophotonic cavities.
