Support for Recombinant Type Materials symposium at the 254th ACS National Meeting

Abstract

A two-day symposium titled ~Recombinant Type Materials~ organized by Jin K. Montclare and Scott Banta aims to bring together the researchers from the biosynthetic community to share their latest discoveries on protein-engineered materials. The symposium is sponsored by the Polymeric Material Science and Engineering (PMSE) and Biotechnology (BIOT) Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS). The symposium will emphasize the following: (1) synthetic biology approaches to prepare macromolecules such as polypeptides; (2") recombinant polypeptides conjugated to synthetic materials and block copolymers, (3) computational approaches to design recombinan"t materials; and (4) polymer physics and characterization of biomaterials. The proposal is being directed to the Biomaterials and Bionanotechnology Program.
