Exploration of MIMO Radar and Co-Prime Array Design for Low-Cost, High Performance Sensing

Abstract

Although MIMO virtual arrays have received more attentions with the recent progress of MIMO radar techniques, the concepts of nested"" array and co-prime array are proposed very recently. Compared to MIMO virtual array, the later two techniques can be applied to for"m passive sensor arrays without the need of active transmitting part. This is an interesting feature which allows the formulation of" networked sensing systems. However, the performance of these two array techniques in presence of active MIMO radar transmitters are" less understood. The objective of this work is to exploit concurrent use of MIMO radar with the nested array and coprime array for higher detection and estimation performance.
