Nengo Summer School 2017

Abstract

Title: Nengo Summer School 2017Objective: To communicate Navy interest and future needs with research community. To train future workforce in technical areas that are vital to DoD andthe Navy.Approach: This unique summer school will achieve its scientific/edu"cational objective by combining expert led lectures, hands-on computer workshops, as well as state of the art hardware interfaces to"" neural modeling systems.Statement of Work: PI will organize the summer school. Identify and invite lecturers, run the workshops a""nd ensure the smooth running of the summerschool, as well as financial management of the school expenses. The overall activities of" the summer school will promote collaboration and dissemination ofinformation through exchange of scientific ideas in neuromorphic computation and brain modeling techniques.ONR relevance: Brain-like neuromorphic computing architecture is one of the key strategic investment areas under the ONR nanoelectronics program.Neuromorphic computing has great potential to provide highly power-effici"ent computing solutions for future military platforms, e.g. autonomous systems. Thissummer school on neuromorphic computation and b"rain modeling will be an important venue where futures needs of DoD can be effectively communicated.
