Fundamental Optical Processes in Semiconductors (FOPS) Conference

Abstract

Title: Fundamental Optical Processes in Semiconductors (FOPS) ConferenceObjective: To communicate Navy interest and future needs with research community. To train future workforce in technical areas that are vital to DoD andthe Navy.Approach: This FOPS worksh"op will achieve its scientific/educational objective by incorporating invited and contributed talks, discussion sessions and informa""l tutorials. Statement of Work: PI will organize the workshop Identify and invite lecturers, run the workshop, as well as financia"l management of the workshop expenses. The overall activities of the workshop will promote collaboration and dissemination of inform"ation through exchange of scientific ideas in optical processes in semiconductors.ONR relevance: Understanding optical processes,"" particularly in 2D materials, is an important component of the ONR nanoelectronics program. Understanding the fundamental optical p""rocesses in 2D materials have great potential to enable highly power-efficient computing solutions for future military platforms, e."g. autonomous systems. This workshop will be an important venue where futures needs of DoD can be effectively communicated.
