19th International Congress on Marine Corrosion and Fouling
Abstract
19th International Congress on Marine Corrosion and Fouling Since its inception in 1964, the International Congress on Marine Corrosion and Fouling (ICMCF) has become the foremost international scientific conference on fouling and corrosion of materials in the sea, bringing together scientists and technologists from academia, industry, defence and other government organizations to present and discuss recent scientific developments in understanding and combating the fouling and corrosion of materials, structures and the performance of vessels in the marine environment. The 19th ICMCF will be convened by Drs Emily Ralston and Kelli Hunsucker (Florida Institute of Technology [FIT], Melbourne Florida) on behalf of the Comité International Permanent pour la Recherche sur la Préservation des Matériaux en Milieu Marin (COIPM). Based on attendance at the 18th ICMCF, which was held in Toulon in 2016, we anticipate in excess of 300 delegates. The 19th ICMCF will take place on the campus of FIT. FIT is home to a world-leading Center for Corrosion and Biofouling Control, led by Professor Geoff Swain. The proposed session topics include: 1. Marine corrosion: Materials and Coatings 2. Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion /Biocorrosion 3. Cathodic protection 4. Risk management in marine protection (AF/corrosion) 5. Regulation of AF and corrosion products and environmental issues 6. Biofilms and Microbial Fouling 7. Adhesion and biofilm formation mechanisms 8. Settlement mechanism of macrofoulers 9. Novel methods to evaluate antifouling efficacy 10. Industry session - Fouling/corrosion in marine energy applications and ships. - Fouling/corrosion in aquaculture, harbor infrastructures, Oil & Gas, desalination plant 11. Novel environmentally friendly antifoulants 12. Chemically-active antifouling technologies 13. Responsive surfaces and textured surfaces for antifouling 14. Advances in fouling release technologies 15. New approaches/ideas for antifouling Invited speakers have yet to be finalised but it is expected to comprise distinguished academics in the research field, from a variety of nationalities as well as leading industry figures (see past conference abstracts available on http://www.icmcf.org).
