Field Observation Inspired Crossover between Wave Turbulence and WKB

Abstract

To describe spectral energy transfers between internal waves in the ocean and interaction of internal waves with large scale vortice"s and flows. The proposed research is based on the fusion together of three components: wave turbulence, WKB and observations. We al"so emphasize that interactions involving the vertical coordinate and vertical wavenumber are nonlocal. Furthermore the nonlinear interactions that involve the horizontal coordinate and horizontal wavenumber are local. These observations makes synthesis between WKB for nonlocal vertical interactions and traditional wave turbulence physically motivated and timely
