The 5th Russia Japan USA Europe Symposium on Fundamental and Applied Problems of Terahertz Devices and Technologies
Abstract
The 5th Russia Japan USA Europe Symposium on The 5-th Russia–Japan–USA-Europe Symposium on Fundamental & Applied Problems of Terahertz Devices & Technologies "RJUSE TeraTech-2017" will take place on October 01-06, 2017 at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in Troy NY, USA. (The conference WEB site is RJUSE.org.) This advanced symposium will gather leading international experts from academia, industry, and government agencies and will setup the stage for exciting breakthroughs in the terahertz field, for understanding the underlying physical mechanisms, and, for the first time in the history of this workshop, focusing on emerging applications. The participants will exchange views on future trends and directions, the market pulls and the necessary policy and infrastructure changes. This symposium will enable the interaction of THz radiation with micro- and nanostructures and advanced solid-state THz emitters and sensors. RJUSE will provide the venue for the in-depth discussions of THz device physics, and the electromagnetic radiation interaction with solid state devices and systems, including THz metamaterials and understanding the underlying physical mechanisms. It will foster interactions between leading researchers in USA, Japan, Russia, and Europe working in the area of THz devices and technologies. The symposium will address not only the recent original results but also will deal with the technical challenges and barriers of transitioning the research results into the THz system-level applications. The RJUSE-2017 will pay special attention to attracting students and post-doctoral associates, and young faculty with special emphasis to inviting women and members of the under representative minorities. Background and Aim of the Conference The Russia–Japan–USA Symposium on Fundamental & Applied Problems of Terahertz Devices & Technologies "RJUSE TeraTech-2017" will be the fifth in the series of annual meetings on Fundamental and Applied Problems of Terahertz (THz) Devices and Technologies. Leading experts in THz science and technology from the US, Japan, Russia, and other countries will discuss issues ranging from basic THz-related phenomena to applications in sensing, imaging, and communications. The scope of the symposium includes interaction of THz radiation with micro- and nanostructures and advanced solid-state THz emitters and sensors. RJUSE will gather experts from academia, industry, and government agencies to review the recent exciting breakthroughs and their underlying physical mechanisms. The mission of the symposium is to foster interactions between leading researchers in USA, Japan, and Russia working in the area of Terahertz Devices & Technologies. To this end, the students will pay no registration fee.Fundamental and Applied Problems of Terahertz Devices and Technologies
