Mechanics-based modeling of naval composites in the design for mitigation of extreme loadings and environments

Abstract

Investigate wave propagation problems in sandwich and layered composite materials and structures to: propose an ef"ficient method for the derivation of the correction factors of equivalent single layers theories, to overcome complexities and impro""ve accuracy; explore innovative concepts for the mitigation of the effects of blast, impact and vibration- Investigate linear and n"onlinear fracture mechanics models to: derive semi-analytic expressions for the fracture parameters in sandwich beams for the characterization of the fracture properties at low temperatures; analyze delamination damage progression in layered structures using a hom"ogenized approach.-Establish active collaboration with Prof. Christian Berggreen, Technical University of Denmark, on computational" and experimental work
