Asia Pacific Regional Energy System Assessment (APRESA)

Abstract

Abstract:The objective of this proposal is to develop comprehensive energy system assessments thatinclude strategy, policy, techno"logy options and implementation plans for energy system transitions in select locations throughout the Asia Pacific region based on the specific requirements or needs of the targeted jurisdictions and strategic alliances. Renewable energyhas grown steadily in the Asia-Pacific region and related areas and is anticipated to contribute to more substantial growth as the region diversifies its en"ergy mix from imported energy. The approach is to develop partnerships with national, regional or local jurisdictions, private and p"ublic stakeholders including universities and other research organizations in the areas ofinterest. The proposed work aligns with and supports Navy strategic power and energy plansand the Department of Defense 2016 Operational Energy Strategy.SOW:The proposed" Asia-Pacific Regional Energy Assessment will be conducted in three Phases. Theobjective of Phase 1, Project Scoping, is to identif"y candidate FAs with potential to benefit froma comprehensive energy analysis. Scoping will also serve to conduct preliminary analy"sis todetermine alignment of client needs with the capabilities of the HNEI team, to refine theproblem definition, and to initiate" preliminary engagement of the local stakeholders. Theoutcome of Phase 1 will be a definitive overall description of the project wi"th problems andissues to be addressed, identification of key stakeholders, data collection requirements,evaluation criteria, and T""erms of Reference. This information will be subsequently analyzed inPhase 2. Implementation strategies, policy recommendations and/"or additional testing andevaluation will be the outcomes of Phase 3.
