Design of Microsensors for the Detection of Corrosion on Aircraft

Abstract

Design of Microsensors for the Detection of Corrosion on Aircraft - Corrosion has been a long-standing issue for the Navy with many ships, aircraft, and vehicles experiencing structural damage due to corrosion. It has been reported that the annual maintenance cost due to corrosion is in the billion-dollar range. Moreover, facilities such as the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division (Electronic Warfare Center) utilize various countermeasure systems as a means to protect warfighters and aircraft.
