2019 Micro and Nanoscale Phase Change Heat Transfer Gordon Research Conference

Abstract

The third Micro and Nanoscale Phase Change Heat Transfer Gordon Research Conference (GRC) and the student run Gordon Research Symposium (GRS) will be held at Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco, Lucca (Barga). The GRS will run February 2-3, 2019 and the full conference will be February 3-8, 2019. ABSTRACTThe Micro and Nanoscale Phase Change Heat Transfer GRC will be held at the Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco, in Lucca, Italy February 2-8, 2019. This GRC is now the third such conference for the heat transfer community and offers a unique venue to discuss fundamental phenomena related to all aspects of phase-change heat transfer and thermal processes in general. Theconference will provide the venue for the community to identify future needs and to develop research strategies to handle the most pressing problems associated with advanced heat transfer and heat transfer systems. Bringing together world experts in the field, securing financial support for the conference, and attracting a large number of participants will ensure the conference~slongevity. Thus, the financial support of the conference is an important factor that will determine whether the conference can continue. This GRC ties in well with the ONR~s mission of fundamental understanding of phase-change heat transfer for addressing thermal management challenges in various naval applications. In addition to the main conference, we will also be hosting a Gordon Research Symposium on the same topic, February 2&3, before the mainconference starts. The GRS is run entirely by graduate students and postdoctoral associates and gives those populations a unique forum to present and share information independent of the senior people who normally populate and dominate a GRC.
