Inhibition of corrosion reactions using micelles based materials embedded in coatings

Abstract

Funds are provided to:(1) Synthesize pH (potential of hydrogen) sensitive micelles, which will act as a carrier for the corrosion inhibitor.(2) Develop optimally formulated micelle based corrosion inhibiting additives.(3) Study the effect of micelle based additives on the surface morphology, physical properties and the corrosion resistance property of the resin used,(4) Investigate the release of inhibitor upon pH change and its effect on the corrosion reaction.(5) Determine the loading levels of corrosion inhibitor in the micelles.
