Effect of AC Poling on Dielectric and Piezoelectric Properties of Relaxor Single Crystals for Acoustic Sensors

Abstract

In order to achieve the objective of enhancing piezoelectric properties of relaxor single crystals using the ACP domain engineering approach for advanced naval sensing applications, the following tasks will be conducted:Task I: ACP for single crystalsTask Goal: The goal of this task is to investigate the ACP process for SC samples with different dimensions (or acoustic frequencies) and crystal cuts.Task II: Evaluation of relaxor single crystals with AC poling Task Goal: The goal of this task is to develop effective characterization methods to evaluate SCs treated by ACP; and to understand the ACP mechanism for optimization of ACP process.Task III: ReportsTask Goal: Progressive reports and final reports at the conclusion of the program will be prepared as required in the contract detailing the research results as well as future research and development efforts.
