2018 Electron Donor-Acceptor Interactions Gordon Research Conference
Abstract
Conference funding is being sought in the amount of $10,000 from ONR to provide partial support for travel and registration fees associated with the 2018 Electron Donor-Acceptor Interactions Gordon Research Conference and Gordon Research Seminar. The theme for the meeting is ???Electron Flow: From the molecular to the global scale.??? The 2018 meeting will explore how the molecular principles that control charge flow at the level of single molecules play out in the milieu of complex functional man-made materials, nanostructured interfaces, biological membranes, multi-species biological communities and, indeed, at the global scale. Specific session themes include molecular charge transport in solar photochemistry, functional synthetic materials inspired by biology, infra-red control of electron transport reactions, multielectron transport within biomolecules, transport of electrons beyond the cell and between organisms, and intrinsically quantum effects on electron transfer. These specific topics are ofgreat relevance to ONR???s Division 432 programs, described in their Broad Agency Announcement. The meeting will be co-chaired by David Beratan of Duke university and Elena Galoppini of Rutgers University at Newark. Early career scientists, students, and members of underrepresented groups in science will be targeted in particular for the requested support.
