Multiple Scattering on Rough Surfaces
Abstract
In an earlier research effort it was found that the complete single scatter current induced upon a one-dimensional, perfectly conducting, sinusoidal surface comprised a curvature augmentation of the conventional Kirchhoff term. This curvature term is also the ???????????????? ???1 term of a Luneburg-Kline asymptotic series where ???????????????? is the electromagnetic wavenumber. Single scatter current atthe point ???????? on the surface is that part of the total current that depends only upon the incident field and the surface at the point ????????. To solve the complete problem it is necessary to determine the multiple scatter part of the total current; this is the part of the total current at the point ???????? that depends upon the incident field and the surface at all other points on the surface. The research proposed here is focused on the multiple scatter part of the current. The research will begin byinvestigating the new Born term in the integral equation for the multiple scatter current and progress to a study of the adequacy of the complete Neumann series. Other physically based approaches such a considering only low order multiple scattering will be investigated. While extensive computations are planned, it is intended to develop empirical forms for the results inorder to reduce the computational load.
