Support for the Office of Naval Research (ONR), Naval Science Awards Program (NSAP)

Abstract

Currently, the Navy annually supports approximately 300 regional and state science fairs and the International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) through the Naval Science Awards Program (NSAP). NSAP provides appropriate recognition, incentives and scholarships to outstanding middle school and high school students to encourage future pursuit of STEM at the undergraduate level and beyond. Navy and Marine Corps personnel participate in NSAP as judges and award presenters with the intent to increase students’ awareness of ONR’s and the Navy’s scientific research, in general. The ultimate aim of NSAP is to encourage a future workforce of trained, talented and prepared candidates to conduct research and development vital to our nation and to the Naval Research Enterprise. Details of the current NSAP can be found on the ONR website at https://www.onr.navy.mil/Education-Outreach/K-12-Programs/NSAP.aspx
