Workshop on Forming an Ecosystem around Software Transformation

Abstract

In conjunction with the ACM???s annual Conference on Computer and Communications Security (CCS), ACM and the Pennsylvania State University propose to host a co-located workshop geared toward understanding several critical issues surrounding software executable transformation for improving the security and efficiency of all software used in security-critical applications. The workshop will cover several key areas that may be necessary to fully exploitthe power and impact of late-stage software customization efforts that were initiated by ONR???s cyber research program.Since software executable transformation is not a solved science (with the generally undecidable problem of automated executable code reverse engineering and analysis at its core), the workshop will be critical to helping determine a path forward for identifying promising environment-specific approaches and cases to alleviate the problem.
