(NURP) Advanced Target Strength Models of Reinforced Closed Cylinders

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The research proposed will result in analytical high frequency target strength models of closed reinforced cylinders with acoustic coatings. This will benefit the Navy from a torpedo sonar target identification standpoint, which is central to the U.S. Navy~s mission of undersea warfare and weapon superiority. Additionally, it will aid in the design of quieter autonomous undersea vehicles (UUV), which is a problem that will likely occur in the future as the navy becomes more dependenton UUVs.
