Natural Language Understanding of Comander s Intent for Improved Decision Support

Abstract

Recent advances in arti?cial intelligence and machine learning o -er a potetial game-changing opportunity for providing automated, ral-time, decision support for war?ghters. However, a fundamental limitation is the need for the machine to understand what the mission parameters are, including the commander s intent (CI), rules of engagement (RoE), and any planned courses of actions (CoA). In this proposal, we seek to develop new advances in natural language processing and optimization that would enable a machine to perform the translation of the natural language definition of the mission parameters into a machine-readable form in order to generate helpful real-time decision support.
