Joint meeting of 32nd International Vacuum Nanoelectronics Conference (IVNC) and 12th International Vacuum Electron Sources Conference (IVESC)

Abstract

This proposal seeks funding to support the travel expenses of graduate students to attend the first joint meeting of the International Vacuum Nanoelectronics (IVNC) and International Vacuum Electron Sources (IVESC) Conferences to be held on the campus of the University of Cincinnati,in Cincinnati, Ohio, from July 22-26, 2018.The meeting will consist of a series of three short courses in some of the fast growing areas in the field of vacuum electron sources and applications, from basic principles to the most recent technological advances. The conference will include plenary talks, invited talks, contributed talks and posters. Contributed talks and posters are refereed based on short abstracts. The meeting will bevery conducive to interactions among participants since there will be no parallel session and the short courses will be offered to all participants as part of the registration fees.Authors of accepted short abstracts will subsequently be required to submit extended abstracts for inclusion in the conference booklet. The extended abstract will also be published on IEEE Xplore Digital Library. Afterwards, the authors are encouraged to submit their full paper to a special issue of Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology B, Nanotechnology and Microelectronics: Materials, Processing, Measurement, and Phenomena. In the last few years, IVNC has attracted about 180 attendees, a third of which were graduate students. The students will benefit from interacting with researchers around the world which will offer them some employments opportunities, ranging from postdoctoral to other university, governmental, and industrial positions.
