Enhancement: The Pressure Signature Of High Reynolds Number Rough Wall Boundary Layers In Pressure Gradient

Abstract

The purpose of this proposal is to request an enhancement to the current grant, N00014-18-1-2455, to support Ph.D. students on the program. The existing grant has supported project planning and costs associated with executing wind tunnel experiments. However, the grant does not support students to conduct detailed preparations for the wind tunnel experiments or analyses of the results. The enhancement proposed, totaling approximately $175k over 33 months of performance, will support one Ph.D. student during the duration of the proposed period. Additional student support may be leveraged from cost share from the proposers~ department to involve two Ph.D. students with the proposed enhancement. The students, Ms. Vidya Vishwanathan and Ms. Julie Duetsch, have agreed to serve on the project, if funding can be put into place. These students were exceptional undergraduates at Virginia Tech. They both have excellent potential for developing into leading researchers in our area, enhancing ONR~s objective to support the training of a diverse, highly capable workforce.
