Analysis and Publication of Long-Range Low-Frequency Acoustic Results from the Pacific Ocean

Abstract

The primary effort of the proposal will be to complete the analysis of experimental data and the co-authoring of journal articles. Dr. Mercer will collaborate with scientists and engineers in the effort of processing and analyzing acoustic data from previous experiments. As the PI he will be involved in the complete research process, including managing the project and technical reporting. Co-authoring of journal articles will be completed with frequent collaboration with other members of the deep-water community. Dr. Mercer’s previous grant (N000141612483) supported three peer-reviewed journal articles (Ref. 1-3) and work on a fourth publication (Ref. 4) will continue. A new collaboration with Mengyu Park at the University of Colorado- Boulder, has just begun. A paper assessing ocean reference models is planned and a presentation (Ref. 5) on this subject will be given at the 2018 Fall meeting of the Acoustical Society of America. Dr. Mercer plans to continue his efforts and membership on the Acoustical Oceanography Technical Committee of the Acoustical Society of America.
