Advanced XPS System for Research of Thin-Film Materials for Enhanced Performance - REVISED

Abstract

The proposed equipment is an advanced system providing superior capabilities for surface analysis related to ongoing and future research and research-related education for thin-film materials to extend the life cycle of metallic components and structures. The system will support the creation of new materials with enhanced performance for corrosion protection, wear resistance, and thermal management, during and after exposure to extreme physical and environmental stresses. Thesenew materials will solve various problems associated with naval warcraft by extending life cycles, saving valuable time and resources previously spent on maintenance and replacement.
