UHMS Annual Scientific Meeting
Abstract
The Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society Annual Scientific Meeting (UHMS ASM) is a yearly meeting coordinated by experts in the fields of diving and hyperbaric medicine. This year~s meeting will be held June 27-June 29, in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. Our meeting is host to over 400 US and International hyperbaric, diving and wound care physicians, scientists, nurses, technicians, respiratory therapists and other allied health care professionals who work in the field of hyperbaric, wound care or diving medicine. The meeting has financial sponsorship from Sechrist Industries and Divers Alert Network providing general support and faculty travel with a total investment of $25,000. The 2019 est imated expenses for the UHMS ASM are $285,225 with the primary source of revenue being registration and exhibits for the meeting.The funds requested from ONR will be used to support travel, lodging, per diem, attendance to the UHMS ASM and associated meeting room cost. This support will be used for a student Fellow, and three (3) invited speakers participating in a special session. The selected Fellow will provide ONR a synopsis of Navy-relevant findings from the meeting. The Society requests that ONR support 4 travel stipends at $1000.00 each for a total of $4,000. If awarded, these funds will be provided to the attendees upon submission of appropriate receipts. TheSociety requests $8,000 to subsidize UHMS ASM costs associated with meeting room rental and audio/visual equipment. ONR funds will not be used for reimbursement of food or drink. .
