Programming Language Implementation Summer School 2019 (PLISS19)
Abstract
The Second International Programming Language Implementation Summer School (PLISS) will be held in Bertinoro, Italy in May 2019. This summer school will bring together leading researchers from academia and industry to discuss current research and future trends in programming language design and implementation. All instructors have had significant impact in this area and play an active role in substantial ongoing research and commercial efforts. The goal of this school is to prepare early graduate students and advanced undergraduate to research in the field. This goal is attained by a combination of lectures on basic languages implementation techniques and short talks exploring the state of the art in programming language research and practice. This school will expose graduate students and young researchers to new and important ideas in programming languages. It fosters in-depth discussion between instructors and students, and wide-ranging discussions. To encourage free discussion, attendance is limited to 45 participants. Admission will be very competitive, and preference will be given to students actively pursuing a Ph.D in related areas. Priority will be given to students who are looking to pursue a career in research and to students from minority groups and/or those from less-funded institutions.
