Instrumentation for Fabrication and Characterization of Optical Devices and Systems

Abstract

The acquisition of this DURIP equipment is to extend capabilities for fabrication and characterization of optical devices and systems. This equipment will provide excellent tools to accomplish these goals, with equipment that enables new fabrication capabilities, high resolution measurements in the frequency domain, and optical sources that extend the wavelength ranges achievable. The new measurements will complement existing equipment for photonic and nanstructures studies already in the PI and Co-PI~s laboratories such as a spectrometer, a white light interferometer, visible and near infrared lasers, modulators, device fabrication, and waveguide characterization equipment. The access to both higher speed measurements, phase control, and new spectral regions will enable powerful materials an device fabrication and characterization, allowing to continue state-of-the-art research.
