Air-sea fluxes and ocean-atmosphere coupling in the Northern Indian Ocean

Abstract

The main objective of this proposal is to expand the air-sea flux data footprint in the Bay ofBengal to the MISOBOB DRI by actively collaborating with the Indian Ocean Observationsand mooring group at NIOT National Institute of Ocean technology Chennai (NIOT), which isa lab of the Indian Ministry of Earth Sciences. This group led by Dr. R. Venkastesan with thesenior scientist Dr. Jossia Joseph and several other junior scientists and staff. This group maintainsmoorings in the Northern Indian Ocean - both in the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. Asecondary objective of this proposal is to work with Indian academic partners at Indian Instituteof Technology Madras to apply the Bobcat currents developed by our group (Sree Lekha et al.2018) to problems of interest for MISOBOB.
