THIS IS AN EXPANSION ON N00014-16-1-2567 PPS PO 4720001931 Detailed Studies of Aerosol, Droplet, and Cloud Processes in the Marine Atmosphere

Abstract

Funds are provided to conduct research to investigate marine boundary layer processes that influence the coupled ocean-atmosphere system and ultimately affect platform, sensor, and weapons performance. Using field data collected by the PI, satellite data, and process-based models, the following two issues will be addressed: (i) aerosol and droplet microphysical processes; (ii) factors governing cloud/fog properties and precipitation. These two topics were chosen because they are associated with major uncertainties that limit current predictive capabilities.
