National Oceanographic Partnership Program Augmented Data Visualization R&D using Cloud based systems, containers, functions and vNext Display Technologies

Abstract

Working with the NOPP Office Director to meet the needs of the NOPP Office; to include soliciting, editing & cataloging NOPP Annual Reports, Trip Reports, Committee Reports & agency activities & funding for distribution on the NOPP website. Developing an improved cloud-based technology base for the NOPP with an improved User Experience (UX) that better meets evolving Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and the reporting needs of the NOPP community. Researching and advancing the use of advanced display techniques using in-situ and remotely sensed observations for improving public communication model forecasts. Partnering with federal programs, academia and industry to bring curated data, products and reports to the public forum for use and re-use in cross-linked projects in a cost-effective manner.. Develop scripts to ingest, model, transform and export ocean and meteorological data, visualizations and forecasts for use by the NOPP project and its affiliates such as live shiptracks for ONR research vessels and time-delayed ship tracks for the public facing website. Sharing programming code, visualization products and technology lessons learned with ONR and others as opportunities develop
