The 5th World Congress on Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME)
Abstract
Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) has received international attention due to its potential to shorten product development time, while lowering cost and improving design and manufacturing outcomes. ICME is an approach to designing materials solutions for specific applications that use computer modeling programs to predict the behavior of materials and integrate this information into the overall materials, processing, and manufacturing design cycle. This conference will provide a forum for presentations and discussions centering on ICME and ICME-related topics.Building on the success of the first four World Congresses on ICME (held in 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2017) TMS is launching this 5th ICME World Congress (ICME 2019) to convene ICME stakeholders ~ including researchers, educators, engineers, and students. The goal of ICME 2019 is to assemble the community of ICME contributors to capture the current state-of-the-art, identify current gaps in ICME efforts, and to set the stage for the future growth and application of ICME worldwide. The expected attendance is at least 200 participants from around the world. All types of research institutions (academia, government, and industrial research laboratories) will be represented. Additionally, the organizing committee has been promoting the participation of both US-based and international students to give them exposure to recent advances in this field. This meeting is thus open to all interested individuals and will attempt to provide the most advanced technical meeting possible, with a mixture of attendees from academic research, industry and educational professions, representing both senior and junior investigators, postdoctoral trainees and students.
