International SFF Symposium An Additive Manufacturing Conference
Abstract
The purpose of this grant request is to obtain participant support for the Annual International Solid Freeform Fabrication Symposium – An Additive Manufacturing Conference. Participant support will directly reduce the registration fee paid by participants in 2019 and, by doing so, will increase participation. The 2019 SFF Symposium will be organized in a manner to allow the multidisciplinary nature of SFF research to be presented coherently, with various sessions emphasizing computational and physical modeling, process development, materials and applications. The three-day event consists of individual oral presentations to accommodate the demand for this dissemination format. Morning sessions are plenary and encourage exposure of the various interdisciplinary features of SFF to all participants. The afternoon sessions are split into parallel sessions, and a poster session gives preference to presenters desiring to use this medium for communication. The SFF Symposium has two standing committees: an Organizing Committee and an Advisory Committee. The former is responsible for the mechanics of all aspects of meeting execution. The latter provides guidance and a feedback mechanism for maximizing the venue to meet the needs of the field and SFF Symposium participants. The SFF Symposium is housed within The University of Texas at Austin Laboratory for Freeform Fabrication, a research unit of the Cockrell School of Engineering’s Advanced Manufacturing and Design Center.
