Abstract
The mission of the College of Optical Sciences is to provide the state of Arizona and the nation with an internationally pre-eminent program in education, research and outreach in all aspects ofthe science and application of light. The grant award will help promote the education of future scientists and engineers. More specifically, increasing the numbers of students who earn B.S. and Graduate degrees in S&T and pursue employment with the US Navy and DoD in general. It willprovide opportunities for further collaboration between the Educational Institution and NRL/RD on various technology transfer projects that will strengthen overall United States competitiveness as well as improve economic development through the application of newly developed technologies to commercial industrial problems.
