Acoustic Calibration Facility Instrument Suite
Abstract
The new ATF instrument suite will be capable of calibration of sources and receivers operating in the 1-500 kHz regime. Integral to realizing this capability is the need to house the instrument suite within a capable research vessel. This requires furbishing/altering existing assets as well as purchase of COTS handling equipment. In addition, COTS electronics will need to purchased and the instrument suite configured to maximize utility. The anchoring system from the soon to be decommissioned vessel will be removed, refurbished and installed onto the new vessel. This will allow the new vessel to anchor in a three-point mooring configuration in water depths up to 60m and conduct lower frequency calibration work.
