Coherent Active Imaging Through Fog

Abstract

PROJECT ABSTRACTThe proposed effort builds on past efforts in the development of highly sensitized single-point frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) scanned lidar and range-Doppler selective digital holographic imaging. The two systems will be combined to enhance the performance of coherent imaging through moderate to heavy fog. The project explores enhancements to the individual systems and the combined systems performance, through hardware development and performance studies assessing different types of modulation techniques, polarization control and selectivity, phase stabilization techniques, and post-processing algorithms. A combined system operating at an eye-safe wavelength will be designed, built, and tested in simulated fog environments.
