University of New Haven Cyber Operative REsearch Scholars (CORES)

Abstract

Project AbstractThe University of New Haven proposes Cyber Operative REsearch Scholars (CORES), an immersive research program that will produce highly-skilled cybersecurity CORES with a cybersecurity research capacity. Selected CORES will undergo a one year rigorous research residency program that will aim to position them for cybersecurity government positions. CORES will come from two main student populations: (1) Deeply technical Students on the NSA CAE-CO Cyber Operations Path and (2) Army Reserve Officers Training Corps(ROTC) students from various majors. This will be performed keeping in mind that all hands-on research projects will be technical. ROTC students will thus be exposed to cybersecurity research irrespective of their majors, and continuously be surrounded by cybersecurity and computer science students. Specifically, the program aims to nurture CORES that (1) Are deeply technical doers yet multidisciplinary thinkers, and (2) Possess a cybersecurity research capacity.
