Center for Turbulence Research Summer Program

Abstract

The primary objectives of CTR are the investigation and understanding of fundamental aspectsof turbulent flows, and the development of physics-based models and predictive tools for multiscaleengineering analysis. The core philosophy that CTR uses to pursue these objectives is tobring together key individuals in research fields related to turbulent flows, and to provide themwith a scientifically vibrant platform where they find encouragement to address diverse andchallenging problems in turbulence. As an educational enterprise, CTR has pioneered aninternationally acclaimed mechanism for dissemination of knowledge and practical know-howthrough the biennial month-long CTR Summer Programs. Held every two years since 1987, theCTR Summer Programs have provided a forum for solving fundamental problems in turbulenceby means of concentrated collaborative efforts of advanced graduate students and their facultyadvisors, and of research scientists and engineers from industry and national laboratories.
