Real time detection of sea mines and plastics in ocean waters.

Abstract

Real time detection of sea mines and plastics in ocean waters. The University of Hawaii will investigate an active fast fluorescence imaging to provide real time video images in order to detect floating and submerged plastic objects in the ocean. The PI will conduct material characterization and response time to estimate and optimize the detection performance at various depth based on illumination source parameters. The PI will also integrate the sensor into a remote-controlled boat platform to conduct outdoor data collection.
