Structural Performance of Fiber Patch Placement for Aircraft Applications with Complex Contours

Abstract

The proposed fiber patch placement (FPP) system cost is $1,182,000.00 (please see attached quotefrom Composite Automation, LLC). This price includes the system delivery charges, installation,and training. Following are the key components included in the system:1. Automated feeding and cutting system2. Articulating robots Stubli TP80 picker robot Stubli TX200 tool manipulation robot3. Safety system4. Programming and simulation software. The primary goal of this research is to investigate the structural performance of FPP parts for aircraft applications with complex contours. Part of the investigation will focus on evaluating the through-the-thickness structural performance under complex out-of-plane loading.
