UHMS Annual Scientific Meeting

Abstract

The Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Societys (UHMS) Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) is a yearly meeting coordinated by experts in the fields of undersea and hyperbaric medicine (UHM). Our meeting is host to over 400 U.S. and international physicians, scientists, nurses, technicians, respiratory therapists and other allied health care professionals, who specialize orhave interest in the field of UHM.This years meeting was to be held June 16 - June 21, in San Diego, California, but due to the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and subsequent travel restrictions orders for public health reasons, the UHMS had to cancel the live ASM. This represents the first time the UHMS has had to cancel its ASM.However, the UHMS ASM is a requirement of its bylaws and therefore the governance team decided to move forward with a novel approach of hosting an online and enduring material ASM. This also represents a first for the UHMS, in designing an enduring meeting program from an online meeting content capture perspective.
