Effects of sleep deprivation and individual differences on procedural placekeeping

Abstract

Our technical approach involves experimental and differential (psychometric) behavioral research using tasks designed to measure place keeping, with an emphasis on use of large samples to ensure reliable and replicable findings. To date we have developed two place keeping tasks with ONR support, the UNRAVEL task (in a previous funding cycle) and the Letter Wheel task (in the current funding cycle). The main measure of performance in these tasks is the rate of place keeping errors, meaning steps performed out of order. However, our tasks afford a range ofother behavioral measures and thus are suitable for assessing effects of a wide range of complex stressors like sleep deprivation.
