Multi-layer drifter deployment using drifters with drogues at different depths in the Mediterranean Sea during the 3rd CALYPSO cruise

Abstract

This proposal is to carry out a multi-layer drifter deployment using drifters with drogues at different depths in the Mediterranean Sea during the final (3rd) CALYPSO cruise anticipated to take place in late 2020 – early 2021, with the goal of observing and quantifying frontal subduction processes. Specific attention will be paid to maximizing synergy with other CALYPSO researchers and coordinating our proposed activity with numerical modeling efforts and with other observational assets from CALYPSO participants.
