COVID-19- Alaska Center for Innovation, Commercialization, and Entrepreneurship (Center ICE)

Abstract

Funds are provided from the FY20 Alternative Energy Research Congressional Program Increase for Force Protection Applied Research to support expansion of the Alaska Center for Innovation, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship (Center ICE) Launch Pad seed funding to support Center ICE s ongoing response to Covid-19. Alaska has national strategic importance and unique technical challenges. The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) is Alaskas premier research and educational institute. The Alaska Center for Innovation, Commercialization, and Entrepreneurship at UAF is an innovation hub that serves UAF, the entire UA system, and the general public. In this project, Center ICE will select promising innovations and entrepreneurial endeavors and provide them with resources and mentoring to maximize their likelihood of success. In this way, Center ICE will lead efforts to solve arctic challenges and increase Alaska resiliency.Center ICE will accelerate the evolution and maturation of innovative solutions to the Covid-19 crisis and will adapt their STEM-related summer internship program to Covid-19 by developing and enhancing distance education and employment approaches.
