Autonomous Robots for Proficiency Self-Assessment
Abstract
"The proposed instrumentation will directly support integrated research across four sites of a current ONR MURI team. The equipment will allow us to develop new knowledge and techniques for system proficiency self-assessment, with a focus on autonomous robot manipulation. The robot, and associated sensors, will establish matching testbed systems at all partner institutions. This will permit access to a common platform by team researchers and student project teams in associated university courses. The equipment will also support research and development under related awards from othersponsors. This proposal is in coordination with parallel proposals from ONR MURI team members at two other institutions. The three parallel proposals are from: Aaron Steinfeld (PI), Henny Admoni (Co- PI), and Reid Simmons (Co-PI) from Carnegie Mellon University; Jacob Crandall (PI) and Michael Goodrich (Co-PI) from Brigham Young University; and Matthias Scheutz (PI) from Tufts. The requested equipment for these three sites will match a robot system already at the University of Massachusetts Lowell MURI partner site (Holly Yanco). We seek to equip each of the other three sites in order to support more integrated research and research-related education."
